Bird Lifespan Calculator
Estimate the lifespan of your bird based on its species, diet, environment, and care.
How to Use This Calculator:
- Species Selection: Select your bird’s species from the dropdown (e.g., Cockatiel, Canary, Conure, Parakeet).
- Diet: Choose the diet quality for your bird (excellent, good, or poor).
- Living Environment: Select whether the bird lives indoors, outdoors, or both.
- Health Care: Indicate the level of veterinary care your bird receives (regular, irregular, or none).
- Calculate: Click the “Calculate Lifespan” button, and the calculator will estimate a lifespan range based on the input factors.
How the Calculator Works:
- The calculator first establishes a base lifespan range for the selected species. For example, a Cockatiel has a base lifespan of 15-25 years.
- Diet: Depending on whether the diet is excellent, good, or poor, the lifespan range is adjusted. A healthy diet increases the potential lifespan, while a poor diet decreases it.
- Living Environment: Birds that live outdoors or in mixed environments may face more risks, slightly reducing the estimated lifespan.
- Health Care: Regular checkups help increase lifespan by catching potential issues early, while a lack of health care may significantly reduce lifespan.
Example:
If a Cockatiel with an excellent diet, lives indoors, and has regular veterinary care:
- Base lifespan: 15-25 years.
- Adjusted lifespan: 17-28 years.
